Meet Some of My Owls

This is Abby!  Her birthday is May 3, 2014.  Her daughter, Andrea, got her wings on May 20, 2014.  I was so excited when this yarn was donated to me.  “What a great owl this will make,” I thought.  And then I had enough to make a baby owl.  Cute pair, aren’t they?

When Kathy Currie Eyers volunteered to knit a few Hootables, who knew that she would end up producing hundreds of them?  Always whimsical, always colourful, Brittany is one of Kathy’s early owls. 

This owl got her wings on May 1, 2010 and she is Hootable #1006.

I had to give one owl my last name, don’t you agree?  And so Douglas got his wings on April 12, 2020.  He is Hootable #984.

I do keep a database of each owl (including photo) and their birthday and Hootable #.  As well I record the purchaser and recipient of the owl.  This is for my personal information and not shared.

I took great joy in creating Douglas.

Hi there!  This is Edward, a Kathy Eyers owl.  He got his wings on January 21, 2019 and is Hootable #795.  He was snapped up very quickly!

Fion is one of our more recent owls.  Knit by Donna, Fion got his wings on January 5, 2024 and he’s Hootable #3177.  He’s living in a condo in Barrie.

I just loved working with this yarn, and Gillian emerged!  Born September 1, 2020, she is Hootable #1011.  Gillian’s forever home is in Barrie.

I knit a series of owls named after hockey players.  Obviously, Horton was the first one.  He skated in on February 9, 2015 and was scooped up by Sally Lennox for her new grandson.

This is one of Joanne Wilson’s owls.  His name is Ivar and he got his wings on December 2. 2016.  He is an early Hootable, #566.

This is a Kathy Eyers owl.  Kathy is a master at whimsy and Jack fits the bill.  He was born September 10, 2023 and is Hootable #3122.

Kay got her wings on March 14, 2016.  She was adopted by Sherry Campbell of The Move Planners.  Sherry has donated many bags of yarn over the years, and she bought this one for her niece.

This fuzzy wee miss is Lora, born March 6, 2010 and #983.  She went home with Sue Olsen.

When I got a call for a retirement gift for a hospital nursery room nurse, well, this just seemed so right.  Dressed in nursing uniform white with the two black stripes in her cap and a baby tucked under her arm, this gift went to Kathy Leonard.  Margaret flew in on August 19, 2015.

This owl was named to honour world class Canadian snowboard racer.  McMorris got his wings on April 18, 2020.   He is Hootable #987.

Donna was the happy knitter of Nevin.  He’s Hootable #2089  and got his wings on November 12, 2022.  Nevin is living in the Barrie area.

Over the years we have completed a few parent/child owls and these little families sell very quickly.  Here is mamma Olive and daughter Myra.  They got their wings on May 13, 2014.

Paige got her wings on June 16, 2018.  She’s Hootable #713.  She’s a Donna Douglas owl  She now lives with Miles in Australia.  Lucky girl!

Joanne Wilson finished this beauty on March 4, 2017.  Quinn is Hootable #617.

Kathy Eyers put a lot of creativity into Rhoda.  Just look at her!  Her birthday is May 20, 2017 and she’s Hootable #620.

First a little family, bought by Susie P. in Barrie.  Sadie (left), Tamara, Nora, born August 11, 2014 and Susie kept the ‘mommy’ owl and gave the babies to her daughters who were leaving home for university.

And then there is Sasha.  Donna made Sasha to honour Oh! Beehive, the Barrie retail store that carries Hootables.  And some lucky owner snapped him up. Born January 4, 2024, he is Hootable #3176.

Kathy Eyers used a lot of creativity to make Theon, on March 6, 2019.  He’s Hootable #809.  Theon is living in Barrie, ON

Ursula is hovering these days and by the time you see this, she may have a forever home… or not.  She got her wings on October 18, 2024 and is Hootable #3298.

Hootables come in all shapes of yarn and Virginia is no exception.  She’s a Donna owl, and lives in York Region now.  She was born on April 7, 2014.

Born August 4, 2016, early into the Hootables program. Wilma was named after my good friend and writer.  And so an early Donna owl was born.

This owl got his wings on October 11, 2023 and he’s Hootable #3145.  Bev C bought Xavier for her great grandchild.

Yvette was lovingly produced by Ayla Demiray and she was tucked on a shelf at Oh! Beehive.  But she didn’t last long before being adopted.  She was born August 8, 2024 and is Hootable 3270.

Zenia is a fall owl, produced September 2, 2024.  She is Hootable #3283.  She’s a Donna owl.
